There’s something about Fountains Abbey unlike any other ruins we’ve been to. So much of it is still semi-intact that you can wander around with eyes half-closed imagining what those walls must have seen over the centuries. It is a magically atmospheric place and just perfect for wedding photography. Clarissa is from Yorkshire and Jesse from the west coast of Australia. They chose a Fountains Abbey wedding as it’s a family favourite haunt and also a perfect location to give Jesse’s family and friends from Australia a taste of Yorkshire history.
Clarissa & Jesse’s beautiful wedding ceremony took place last Saturday at magnificent Fountains Hall, a stone’s throw from the Abbey, and featured lovely readings and a traditional hand-tying. Despite the typically British Summer weather forecast the rain stayed away and we were able to head down to the Abbey for couple portraits and some family photos during the drinks Reception. After that it was off to wedding day part 2 in three cosy teepees from Papakata on Sawley village green: Prosecco, laid back jazz, and mingling on the lawn, fabulous food and speeches under the teepee canvas, followed by cocktails and dancing, it was some party!
Clarissa & Jesse are off on a bit of Greek island hopping for their honeymoon. We wish them a fantastic holiday and a wonderful start to a very happy marriage! For now, a few highlights from a very special day.
