There are few more beautiful sights in the UK than a sunny morning in the Pennines with dew on the grass and the sun low in the sky. It made for a truly stunning drive up to Crow Hill in Marsden a couple of weekends ago for Lucie and Russell’s wedding. It was the first time I had been to a wedding at Crow Hill and I found this hidden gem of a wedding venue absolutely stunning. There is plenty of room for both bride and groom wedding parties to get ready seperately in the morning before the civil ceremony in the spacious dining room of the main house. Joining me for the day for this wedding was top Leeds Wedding Photographer John Hope who hooked up with Russell and the guys (and Rosie the dog!) while I joined up with the girls, the make-up and the champers! A special mention at this point for ace make-up artist Kimberley Brook who was brilliant – check out some of the bridal portraits below.
The beautiful floristry is by Stems Designs and the magnificent wedding dress from Limelight Occasions, both of Huddersfield.
It had been an emotional morning with Lucie’s Dad in particular struggling to keep his composure when he first set eyes on his daughter in her dress. Happily, so it continued into the ceremony as Russell was forced to get the hankerchief out! The ceremony was beautiful with laughs and tears in equal measure. Once the vows had been said, the rings exchanged and the marriage sealed with a kiss, Lucie and Russell headed out with their guests into the Winter sun to be greeted by hot punch and confetti!
The conditions were perfect for bride and groom photography, so we headed straight into the Crow Hill grounds to make the most of the beautiful, soft sunlight while it was still there. One of the great things about Crow Hill is that you don’t have to go very far to find lovely, quiet locations for photos. For starters though, a couple of shots with one of the stars of the show – Rosie the dog!
The sun even lasted long enough to get some family and friends photos in front of the house – starting off with the whole group!
The permanent on-site marquee provided a warm haven for the guests to mingle and celebrate over a glass or three. It was beautifully dressed in a vintage style with every single detail chosen and planned by Lucie and Russell, and superbly executed by the team at Crow Hill. Check out some of the details below. It was then on to the speeches and back to the emotion of the ceremony with more laughs and tears.
It had been a wonderful wedding and, as the evening guests started to arrive and the bubbly flowed even more, it was clear it was going to be one hell of a party…
Thanks to Lucie and Russell for having John and I there to capture the day, it was huge fun and they were a joy to work with! Congratulations to you both and I hope you enjoyed your epic honeymoon to New York and the Caribbean.
