So the time of year has come yet again to blog the highlights of last year’s amazing weddings. However we decided to do it a little differently this year. We could, as usual, roll out reams of beautiful bridal portraits and gorgeous bride and groom couple photos taken against stunning backgrounds, and don’t get us wrong, these are hugely important parts of what we do as wedding photographers and you can see plenty of this on the website. But of course there is so much more, and this year we wanted to focus very simply on some of our favourite spontaneous moments from the fantastic weddings we have been lucky enough to photograph over the last 12 months.
We set ourselves a simple rule when selecting these: it’s a strictly NO POSE ZONE. No set up shots. We even dispensed with “the kiss” during the ceremony. Other than that anything goes: candid photos of guests, great speech moments (both funny and moving), exchanged glances in church, cute little ones doing what cute little ones always do, fun and emotional moments during the morning preparations in both girls’ and boys’ camps, bride and groom between portrait shots, the forces of the British weather, and generally any other random stuff we like.
As you might imagine there are literally hundreds and we’ve had a tough job cutting it down to less than three figures. Some of them might be “you had to be there” photos, but many of them should convey some of what was going on at the time and the relationship and emotion between the people in the image.
And that, after all, is the beauty of photography. Is it not?
We hope you really enjoy them. They have made us, as the photographers, laugh, cry and many have made the hairs on the back of our necks stand up. This is why we do it. A happy, healthy and prosperous 2013 to each and every one of you.
