Anna & Richard’s Wedding, The Mansion at Roundhay

Forget June and July, September and October are the new sunny wedding months, and Anna & Richard’s big day in Leeds was no exception. The sun was out, the sky was blue and it was a wedding we were particularly looking forward to, not least the wedding service at Holy Trinity in Rothwell. Richard and his family are heavily involved in the church due to Richard’s father having until recently been the vicar there for many years. Richard is still heavily involved in the music of the church and we knew we were going to see some pretty impressive choral action! To be honest it was even better than we’d expected – goosebumps. hairs on the back of your neck, the works.

Earlier in the day I had spent some time with Anna, her parents and bridesmaids while Caroline rocked up to choir practice to find the groom still very much hands-on! She did finally manage to extracate him though…

Richard’s sister sang a beautiful solo during the signing of the Register.

It was then off to Roundhay Park and The Mansion for their Reception. Roundhay Park is brilliant for bride and groom photos, particularly the beautiful specialist gardens that offer loads of colour all year round. It’s always nice for the newly married couple to have a little time out to let it all sink in and we had a really nice relaxed stroll around the park, champagne glasses in hand (them, not us) and some fun, relaxed portraits.

Anna & Richard are clearly a very popular couple, demonstrated both by the lengthy standing ovation when they walked into the wedding breakfast room and the excellent speeches – including an impromptu serenade by the best men, one strumming a miniature green guitar! About as far from politically correct as it gets, but very, very funny.

Dinner and speeches overran massively so by the time the evening party started everyone was more than ready to hit the dancefloor. No huddling around the tables at this party.

And so we left them to it, the party in full swing and the Mansion looking splendid as we headed home. A wonderful day, a wonderful couple – we loved it. Thank you Anna & Richard and once again, many congratulations! R&C x
