As always happens at this time of year we start to get badly behind with the blog. The weeks fly by with weddings, travelling & editing and making the type to blog is a challenge – but no excuses! Today is the day and first up we have some photos from a creative wedding shoot we did recently at the beautiful Coniston Hall and Hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, just outside Skipton. There are loads of things we love about this place. Initially set up by the Bannister family who own Coniston Hall, the hotel nestles in 1400 acres of beautiful Yorkshire Dales countryside including a stunning Lake and woodlands. The hall itself, often used for wedding drinks receptions, is a beautiful private home with lawns running down to the lake and a gorgeous little boathouse. If that wasn’t enough it also has a Falconry centre, clay pigeon shooting and all sorts of offroad driving activities.
The weddings we have photographed there so far had made use of the quaint little village church for the wedding service before moving onto the Hall for drinks and then the hotel for the wedding breakfast. The team at Coniston are superbly organised and each wedding has been hugely successful. So – where better place for us to put together a creative shoot to help both the hotel and to showcase some dresses from one of our favourite dress designers, Eliza Wyke Couture. Together with our very good friend, colleague and fab photographer Nicky Chadwick and 3 wonderful models, we headed out for a great day in the Dales. Details of all the suppliers involved are below after some of the photos from the day.
These fantastic old ruined pillars outside the Hall make a great backdrop….and Nicola sets them off perfectly in this beautiful Eliza Wyke dress.
Definitely heels off for the walk down to the water…
You wouldn’t think Eleanor and Adrian had only just met!
The pontoon at the bottom of the lawn is quite narrow, but just big enough to serve as a beautiful backdrop for bridal portraits.
The boathouse is beautiful and very romantic. Couples are able to take the boats out on the lake for photos too if they are brave enough!
Adrian, our male model, LOVES birds of prey it turns out. So someone was particularly happy to pose with the cutest owl on site for some photos. These owls will fly down the church with the rings tied to their foot to deliver them to the best man. A photographer’s worst nightmare – and we have a chance this Winter to try it out!
We finished up at the little church with a footpath that leads down through the woods to Coniston Hall and Lake – very picturesque.
