We’ve got to know Rebecca & Barry quite well since we met them at a wedding fayre in Harrogate last October, and it’s fair to say they are some of the warmest, friendliest and genuinely lovely people we have had the pleasure of working with. You may remember when we posted their pre-wedding shoot a few months back we told the very romantic story of how they met – check out the post to refresh your memory!
We were pretty excited about this wedding, particularly as we played along with the “official” agenda and timings as far as Barry was concerned, while secretly planning the alternative version with Rebecca. You see Rebecca’s Dad, Peter, had arranged for Barry to be collected from home in the morning and instead of going to the pub near the church as he thought, he was whisked off to Leeds/Bradford airport with his best man and brother Craig for a helicopter trip to Wood Hall – where a sleek sporty Mercedes was ready and waiting for them to drive to the church. Very impressive we thought, although it did mean us meeting ourselves coming backwards as we tried to be in all the important places at once!
This was a truly lovely wedding and a hugely fun day – a stunning couple, a beautiful church, Wood Hall gorgeous as always for the reception, and a crowd of friendly, happy people – oh yes, and a proper party to round it off! Here are some of our favourite images from the day and night – and the highlights slideshow at the bottom if you fancy the musical version! THANK YOU Rebecca and Barry for having us to photograph your fabulous day. We wish you so much happiness for the future.
The Boys & Girls: the dress, the shoes, the make-up, the suits – and the excitement!
The helicopter arrival – in worryingly broody skies – and plenty of hugs and high-fives on landing.
At the same time Rebecca “slips” into her stunning dress while proud parents look on
Barry, by now at church, has a quiet moment – coincidentally in some sublime light!
And waits for the bride with best man Craig (we love this shot – Miami Vice in wedding suits)
He also takes a moment to relive the helicopter landing…
Rebecca arrives with Dad and it’s time for the best bit…..
Mr and Mrs McNeill sign the register and head outside as newleyweds
The weather was kind and despite a slightly damp and drizzly morning the sun came out as we drove over to Wood Hall and set off into the beautiful grounds for some bride & groom photography. The pre-wedding shoot is such a vital part of the process as both Rebecca & Barry were really relaxed with us and the cameras, and that really shows in the photographs
We then headed off to get some detailed shots of the wedding breakfast room and some candid shots of the guests (with the perfect green ivy backdrop)…
The speeches were very funny and often moving. This is the part of the day as a photographer when it is hardest to concentrate while laughing along with everyone else. Apparently on his stag party in Prague, Barry was forced to dress up firstly as Woody from Toy Story and then Buzz Lightyear – for the duration of the trip. During the speeches Rebecca was asked to blindfold him while life-size cardboard cut-out photos made a surprise appearance.
And finally it was time for Mr & Mrs McNeill to hit the dance floor…to a bit of Leona Lewis and “I Got You”. There was no encouragement needed then for everyone else to hit the dancefloor!
We always like to get a parting shot of the venue on the way home. Only 4 days after mid-Summer’s night this was 10pm and not an electric light to be seen!
So that’s it – a stupendous day. Here’s the slideshow to finish up. R&C x
